Kotaraya

I have a sneaky suspicion that word got out about the low low prices at this humble yet spacious Malaysian diner, serving up your standard Malaysian favourites from Char Kway Teow to Har Mee. Curry Laksa with sliced chicken, prawn and bean curd had a nice curry flavour though a bit heavy on the chilli oil, leaving the throat like a pyromaniac leaves the scene of a crime. Beef Char Kway Teow, different to its sibling Char Kway Teow was a dampener, though my senses could have been blurred, unable to wash away the laksa with tea and any other liquid in arms reach. Not too oily, plenty of egg and sliced beef being a major plus. The roti canai with rendang is superb, copious amounts of ghee, egg, flour and water kneaded, tossed and spun to create a fluffy fried bread to soak up the stewed beef. Devilishly spicy and delicious. At these prices, I don’t hear the students or other patrons complain too much.

2.5 / 5 yums!
