Spicy Fish (Glen Waverley)

Spicy Fish sticks the cattle prod right between the testes of the Glenny food world, injecting a 100,000V jolt of spice and flavours from Szechuan. I don’t claim to be able to handle chilli to the point where the lads from Backdraft are required, but I’m always intrigued by the scales used to warn you of impending poison. With the maximum 3 chillies along with a chef’s recommendation, the Dry Chilli Chicken (imperative you order boneless) Szechuan Style, inconsistently battered drops of chicken has the right amount of chilli pops, the fantastic blend of those pepper spices toasted to perfection, avoiding any bitterness. Extremely yummy.

Another from the recommended list was the Double Cooked Sliced Pork Szechuan style. Expecting it to come out in a hotpot, my friends told me they cooked it once in there, then again on the plate. I know I’ll go back for more of the Pork Spare Ribs, as good as anywhere I’ve had, the golden crunchy battered pieces though slightly overcooked but it’s all about the Michael Jordan spicy salt, a perfect specimen. Glad nothing tasted like burning. Spicy Fish sends hearts racing, just like an electric shock to the...
