Heritage Balnarring

Heritage at Balnarring just oozes charm, it’s basically a restaurant and bar in a cute, country style house. All the pine and candlelight inside provides a warm, yellow tungsten glow that just begs visitors to stay a little longer. An outdoor deck outside perfect for sipping that chardy as the sun sets.

Despite its surrounds right in the thick of the Aussie bush, the menu takes influence from all parts of the world. A simple chicken rubbed with oregano and garlic is served with long beans and spuds, drizzled with a sticky jus that is sure to please. Moroccan style lamb, spices grilled onto the tender, just pink flesh, is neatly sliced on top of cous cous but oddly buk choy and topped with a herbed yoghurt and a nice corn salsa. Thickly cut spuds with aioli great for a nibble.

I’m sure it’s a local’s delight but I’m not sure the food was worth the drive from Red Hill for a couple of tourists on the look out for something a bit different. For a lazy round of afternoon drinks, definitely.
