“You don’t what it’s like, baby you don’t know what it’s like, to love somebody, to love somebody, the way I love you”. Damn I hate karaoke, especially in the middle of dinner. No one mentioned that upstairs was a space for functions which allowed passionate but at times off-key renditions of cheesy golden oldies. Hopes that the food was going to be better faded quickly. I thought I ordered the Hainanese chicken, not soya sauce chicken. Kang kong was fine, a nice sambal stir fried with the water spinach. As “Words” by Bee Gees wafted from above, I was left without at the mango chicken from the specials board. Beer battered chicken (a la lemon chicken), on a pool of sweet chilli sauce topped with fresh julienne mango. It tastes exactly as described. At $22.50, a bit more effort please. The beef rendang also disappointing, the curry stew a little coarse and unrefined, lacking herby and spicy depth with most of the brisket pieces not tearaway soft. Friendly service but it’s going to take a lot of love to get me back.
