Lime Espresso Sandwich Bar

I don’t know about lime. The colour that is not the fruit. I love as a garnish in G&Ts but when I see the colour slapped on high performance utes it’s all a bit too much for me.

Which brings me to Lime Espresso Sandwich Bar. Yes, the walls are painted with that very tragic colour, but there’s also a daggy sense of that local fish and chippery that’s been around since you were born with the house combos, breads and fillings listed on a very glossy plaque that has lasted the test of time. Speaking of time, you’ll need a bit of it and contortionist skills come lunchtime to squeeze into a space as you shuffle towards the counter. There’s salads, pastas but it seems the wraps, Noble Rise bread and rolls are the real winners. Poached chicken is extremely popular and healthy, although the lemon and chive mayo lacks the homemade touch but plenty of Praise must have gone into it. Chicken schnitzel is heavily crumbed and buttery, the same mayo provides an overall grease impression. No doubting the freshness of the greens though.

I guess the owners of those utes aren’t the only ones crying out for attention. Whatever Lime is doing, they get a hell of a lot of it. But it’s probably a little bit too much for me.

I eat at Lime every time I'm in Sydney for business, and lately it seems I'm there more than I am here.

Truth is the food's fresh and flavorsome. There's a staple of salads, home made pastas and risotto's but occasionally they introduce new dishes - I can't go past a half chicken Caesar half pesto pasta salad!!

Try and get there towards the start of the lunch rush as it tends to get very busy. Not surprising though as it's on the main drag heading into Darling Harbour. That plus the food and service are GREAT!

Agreed it's time for a new paint scheme but please please don't change the food!!

On the occasions I have eaten at Lime (14 and half to be exact, the half was when I only had a coffee), everytime I have enjoyed something different and everytime has been better then the next.

Food is always fresh and never disappoints. I look forward to heading to the city to enjoy lunchtimes at Lime.

The food coupled with the service and attitude of the staff keeps me wanting to go back for more.

I'm not an expert in the rating system but 2.5 stars is definitely not accurate. More like 4 stars and I'm a tough judge, especially when it comes to sandwiches and rolls.

I'm hearing alot about the paint job... at the end of the day who really cares about a personal choice in colour. Especially when the food and service takes your mind away from all that.

Keep up the good work!!
