Little Malaysia

There is a little bit of Malaysia here, but for the most part it’s pretty much toned down and adapted for Western tastes. That’s not to say it’s a bad thing, because the food is still pleasant.

Busy busy on a Friday night, so don’t expect a walk in seat. Speaking of don’ts, don’t get the overcooked and limp salt and pepper squid, its garlic, spring onion and chilli seasoning lacks punch. Beef rendang doesn’t suffer this flavour problem, though you get more of the chunky spice mixture than bovine meat, but was nice and tender. KangKong water spinach could have done with a touch less belachan. Chilli sambal chicken, eggplant and stir fried fish surprisingly good. Roti is suspiciously out of the packet but at least it’s not the squashed pancake kind.

There might not be enough Malaysian to the food to keep the purists happy but for the rest of us, it does the job for a feed.
