Momotaro Rahmen

Overhyping can result in disappointment when it doesn’t deliver. Think the Socceroos pre World Cup 2006. Any English sport team. The Veronicas. Blvd on Saturday nights. This blog.

I thought the Melbourne drought would end, discovering this tiny Japanese café in Richmond. A place where it’ll rain authentic ramen and curry. My expectations were moderate, but I should have dug deep and buried them 6 feet under. Upon taking a mouthful of the negi-miso ramen broth, it was watery and bland. The tonkotsu was the same with its flavour disappearing as quickly as people escaping a burning building. Not appreciated that the pork was thickly sliced and tough. No comments on the noodles, because my mother told me if you don’t have something nice to say don’t say it at all. Plain katsu curry and no chilliness to save it, the more you ate it the more it became like a brown corn starch gravy. Meals were left unfinished. The drought continues.
