Thai Intra

With a mate’s claim that this Drummoyne Thai restaurant, which had the best Thai food in the universe, was also next door to the best fish and chips in the universe, you couldn’t go wrong. If one place was bad, just wash it out with the other. Not feeling like fish and chips, Thai it was. In my mind, Spice I Am reeks of gold but I’m open, especially if Thai Intra could match that lofty suggestion.

Can’t say it’s the best Thai I’ve had, but it’s still very good. The red curry was a bit heavy on the chilli for my liking but balanced the other spice levels well and the massaman was as good as SIA’s. Not usually a fan of pad thai, this one was very nice. Light stir fried rice noodles in a gentle fish sauce, tamarind and lime juice, with crushed peanuts giving it a bit of character. It came with large scampi that mislead and teased to its quantity of lobster-esque meat. Beef salad was a simple affair showered with a light sweet chilli dressing. No complaints, no disappointments, it’s worth a try.

3 / 5 yums!
